Adam Perez is an award-winning freelance filmmaker, and photographer, based in Exeter and Los Angeles, Ca. His work centers on intimate stories that expose the nuances of race, gender, identity, and culture.
He’s currently a Constellations Fellow through The Center for Cultural Power and support from the California Arts Council working on a collaborative exhibition honoring farmworker communities and building a cultural and arts center.
Previously, Adam was an Emerson Fellow working on a photo and video project about how the pandemic has devastated marginalized communities in California’s Central Valley, which produces one-fourth of the country’s food.
Adam is also the Director of Photography for DREAMLAND: The Burning of Black Wall Street, the latest feature documentary from CNN Films directed by Salima Koroma, which debuted at #1 on cable news.
Adam graduated with honors from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. He also graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California where he’s also an adjunct professor.
He’s also a member of NAHJ and Diversify Photo.
